  • The Good Shepherd - Goodness and Mercy Is Following Me!

    Psalm 23:1-6 (NKJV) / 詩篇23:1-6
    1 The Lord is my shepherd;
    I shall not want.
    2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
    He leads me beside the still waters.
    3 He restores my soul;
    He leads me in the paths of righteousness
    For His name’s sake.
    4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil;
    For You are with me;
    Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
    5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
    You anoint my head with oil;
    My cup runs over.
    6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    All the days of my life;
    And I will dwell in the house of the Lord

    1.God Doesn’t Take Away The Tough Times, He Gets Us Through The Tough Times
    Romans 5:3-5 (NIV) / ローマ5:3-5
    3 Not only so, but we[a] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
    4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
    5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

    2.You Are Graced To Do Uniquely Great
    2 Corinthians 10:12-13 (NIV) / 2コリント10:12-13
    12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.
    13 We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the sphere of service God himself has assigned to us, a sphere that also includes you.

    3. Surely His Goodness And Mercy Is Following Me!
    Psalm 67:1-2 (NIV) / 詩篇67:1-2
    1 May God be gracious to us and bless us
    and make his face shine on us—
    2 so that your ways may be known on earth,
    your salvation among all nations.

    Winding Up
    Proverbs 15:24 (NKJV)
    The way of life winds upward for the wise,
    That he may turn away from hell below.
    Psalm 84:5-8 (NIV)
    5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
    whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
    6 As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
    they make it a place of springs;
    the autumn rains also cover it with pools.
    7 They go from strength to strength,
    till each appears before God in Zion.
    The Word Is Our Rock
    Matthew 7:24-25 (NIV)
    24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
    Love Jesus? Love The Word
    John 1:1 (NIV)
    1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
    Get The Word Into Your Heart & Mind
    Deuteronomy 11:18-21 (NIV)
    18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, 21 so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.

    Voice of the Shepherd
    (Psalm 23:1-3) The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. (2) He makes me lie down in green pastures,
    he leads me beside quiet waters, (3) he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
    The shepherd
    -It’s the shepherd’s voice – (not a strangers voice) about relationship, food, guidance, protection.

    1.It’s ‘the good shepherd’s voice’
    (It brings only good – John 10:10)
    (John 10:10) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

    2.It’s a personal voice
    I know (Afghan boy)

    3.It’s a voice within
    a.-Children hear it (Samuel)
    (1 Samuel 3:8) A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy.
    b.-Kings hear it (Cyrus)
    (2 Chronicles 36:22-23) In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing: (23) “This is what Cyrus king of Persia says:“‘The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah. Any of his people among you may go up, and may the Lord their God be with them.’”
    c.-Non-christians can hear it – (Abraham)
    (Genesis 12:1) The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
    -Parable of the sower
    (Luke 8:5-8) “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. (6) Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. (7) Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. (8) Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.” When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

    d.-Runaway christians hear it
    (1 Kings 19:9,12) There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (12) After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

    e.Christians continually hear it
    -The Holy Spirit – speaks, teachers ,corrects, brings truth.
