    Jesus: ‘I Am Willing’
(Luke 5:12-15) While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” (13) Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him. (14) Then Jesus ordered him, “Donʼt tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” (15) Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses.
    God Can Heal
(Psalm 8:3) When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place..
(Psalm 139:13-16) For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my motherʼs womb. (14) I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (15) My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. (16) Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
(Jeremiah 32:17) Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

  • What sort of family did jesus have?
    -A family just like us
(Matthew 13:54-56) Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked. (55) “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? (56) Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?”
    A family of:
    -poverty and wealth
    -trials and sorrows
    -supernatural dreams, visions, miracles, resurrection
    -joy and celebration

    1.His birth
    -Faith, love, poverty
(Luke 2:4-7) So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. (5) He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. (6) While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, (7) and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
(Luke 2:10-14) But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. (11) Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. (12) This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (13) Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, (14) “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
(Luke 2:19) But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

    2.Jesus: Age 12
(Luke 2:41-42) Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. (42) When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom.
(Luke 2:46-50) After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. (47) Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. (48) When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” (49) “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” (50) But they did not understand what he was saying to them.

    3.Jesus: Age 30 – the first miracle
(Luke 3:23) Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli.
-Genealogy of Jesus (75 names) – including Joseph (his father), King David, Judah, Jacob, Isaac, Abraham, Noah, Adam.

(John 2:1-2) On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, (2) and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.
    -Wedding – joy

    4.The crucifixion and resurrection
(John 19:25-27) Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. (26) When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” (27) and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
(Acts 1:14) They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
-James becomes leader of Jerusalem church (and writer of Book of James)
-Judas becomes leader (and writes Book of Jude)
Finally : Jesus can relate to our needs and helps us always!
(Hebrews 4:15) For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.

Don't let your joy be taken away!

Don't let your joy be taken away!

3:1-5 JLB) /(Genesis 3:1-5)
1「Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3but God did say, 4‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5“For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”」

A sign that you may be losing your joy

    - your heart focuses on small problems rather than big blessings

    - you depend on your work and efforts rather than grace

「Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.」
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

    - you want to be away from the people who have joy from God

「Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.」
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What can we do to protect our joy?

Pour our hearts to God's promise

18 So we do not set our sights on the things we can see with our eyes. All of that is fleeting; it will eventually fade away. Instead, we focus on the things we cannot see, which live on and on.

    Be joyful with joyful people

If some have cause to celebrate, join in the celebration. And if others are weeping, join in that as well.

25 not forgetting to gather as a community, as some have forgotten, but encouraging each other, especially as the day of His return approaches.

    Depend on God

26 When you are angry, don’t let it carry you into sin.[a] Don’t let the sun set with anger in your heart or 27 give the devil room to work.
  • Walk To ‘The Other Side Of The Road’ (The Parable of the Good Samaritan)

(Luke 10:29) But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

    Q:Who is my neighbour?
    -Jesus: surprising parable …
    -A man robbed

(Luke 10:30) In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.

(John 10:10) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

-Luckily 3 men come past at that time …
A Priest Happened To Be Going Down… (Crowd’s Response : Yay! Yes! … Oh No!)

(Luke 10:31) A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.

-would not cross to the other side of the road

So too a Levite …. (crowd’s response: yay! Yes! …. Oh no!)

(Luke 10:32) So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

-would not cross to the other side of the road

    3.…But a Samaritan (crowd’s response no! no! ….Oh I get it!)

(Luke 10:33-35) But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. (34) He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. (35) The next day he took out two denariiand gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

    -“guts feeler’

    Jesus question:
(Luke 10:36-37) “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” (37) The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

-“Which was the neighbour?” …“Go and do likewise.”
(Proverbs 11:24 MSG) The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.
