‘TASTY’ LIVING WITH JESUS

(Lk 14:34-35) “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it
be made salty again? (35) It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure
pile; it is thrown out. “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

-Tasty. Salty:
pungent, tasty, sharp, spicy, seasoned, smelling like the sea.,
humorous, earthy, colourful, tangy, tart, zestful, lively,

-Tasteless: Saltiness lost. (Gr:moros)
boring, dull, drab, bland, unsalted, unsalty, blah, blah, blah.
not sharp, without an edge. “just got played”. “If you stand for nothing,
you will fall for anything”.

1.What is God like? Tasty!

(Psalm 34:8) Taste and see that the Lord is good;blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

2.What is God’s Word like? Tasty!

(Psalm 19:7-8)The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.(8)The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

3.What is Jesus like? Tasty!

(Mark 2:12) He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

(Mark 6:2)When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed.“Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing?

(Luke 4:22)All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.

4.What are we supposed to be like? Tasty!

Love God, love peole, love life.

(1 Peter 2:1-3)Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. (2) Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, (3) now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

(Acts 4:13)When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

How do we know if we’re tasteless?

Like the older brother in Jesus’ story.

(Luke 15:25-28) “Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. (26) So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. (27) ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’ (28) “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him.

1.Calling goes down

2.Disconnecting rather than connecting

3.Take ourselves too seriously

4.Problems go up (without hope)

5.Not as fruitful. Team not so fruitful

What do we do if tasteless?

(Luke 14:34)“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?

1.Call on God to renew us.

(Luke 18:27)Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.“28Peter sai

2.Rejoice and worship

(Ephesians 5:18-20)Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, (19) speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, (20) always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

3.Have a passion area to use for God

(1 Corinthians 12:4-6)There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. (5) There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. (6) There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
